EMDR helps people recover from traumatic memories. It involves pairing distressing memories with a rhythmic sensory stimulation (eye movements) to help reduce distress and increase adaptive processing. This type of therapy can be used singularly or as a supplement to ongoing psychotherapy.
EMDR can help with intrusive memories, avoidance, intense emotional stress, reactivity, negative self beliefs, unhealthy relationship patterns, attachment wounds, feeling emotionally “stuck,” and somatic symptoms.
