Effective, collaborative, trauma-informed.
With a foundation in psychodynamic and family systems theories, I work with people who experience problems in living. These are often described as: anxiety, depression, attachment wounds, anger, grief, insecurity, life transitions, recurring relational patterns, self-doubt, meaninglessness, or the residual impacts of past traumas.
These problems do not exist in isolation but are connected to childhood, family dynamics, relationships, history, culture, and with racial, economic, sexual, and environmental oppression. One of the basic fundamentals of my role is to embrace the humanity of everyone I work with.
This form of therapy emphasizes connections between the past, the present, and the "here and now" of the counseling session in order to develop self-understanding, metabolize grief for the past, and learn new ways to manage hardship.
